Woman injured in industrial accident at Schick Manufacturing

There are any number of ways in which an accident can occur on the job. An industrial accident could be caused by anything from improper training to another employee's error to improperly maintained machinery or even a mistake on the part of the injured worker. Regardless of the circumstances, however, an Arizona employee who is injured on the job is entitled to workers' compensation benefits, with very few exceptions.

In another state, an employee of Schick Manufacturing recently suffered traumatic injuries when an appendage became entangled in one of the machines. According to other employees, the woman's right hand and arm somehow became lodged in the machinery at around 9:15 that morning. Coworkers attempted to help immediatelyy after by disconnecting power to the machine.

The woman's coworkers called 911, and emergency officials responded quickly. When they arrived, they were able to extricate her in about 17 minutes. Paramedics rushed her to the hospital where, according to reports, she remains in serious condition. As is mandatory in any workplace accident, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration is already performing an investigation into the incident.

Unrelated to OSHA's findings on the cause of the accident is the employee's right to workers' compensation benefits. The woman will undoubtedly have mounting medical expenses as she receives the medical care and treatment she needs to recover from the industrial accident, and these benefits can help alleviate some of the financial strain that comes from meeting these expenses. Sometimes, however, insurance companies make it difficult and complicated for injured workers to receive the full amount of benefits to which they are entitled. In such situations, the knowledgeable expertise of an Arizona workers' comp attorney can make all the difference.
