Most Arizona companies take the safety of their employees seriously and provide them with the training and equipment they need to keep from being hurt on-the-job. However, other companies fail to follow the regulations and laws enforced by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). They fail to acknowledge that the proper training and equipment are essential to preventing a work injury.
OSHA recently proclaimed that a company could have prevented an accident that injured one of its workers on July 13. The man was servicing a tire when it exploded. The rim hit him in the head and caused serious injuries.
OSHA’s investigation found that the company failed to provide its employees with adequate safety training and other safeguards to ensure their protection while servicing wheels with rims. Furthermore, the company did not ensure that each employee was qualified or had successfully demonstrated the ability to safely service the rims. An agency representative went on to say that any company engaging in this type of work might benefit from a review of their policies and procedures. Any gaps in their training and safety protocols should be rectified.
In the meantime, the employee who suffered the work injury could be looking at a lengthy recovery. Like other Arizona employees, he is entitled to workers’ compensation benefits such as medical expenses, lost wages and others, depending on the situation. Arizona workers who are injured on the job might consider enlisting the advice and assistance of an attorney to help navigate the process so that they can focus on their recovery without any additional stress.
